Cherry Birch

Cherry works in partnership with clients to design and deliver finance for non

financial managers training as well as leadership development, change

management, mentoring and career development programs. She has designed

and facilitated Finance for Non-Finance managers programs at middle to

senior and executive level and currently runs finance programs for the

Australian Institute of Management (AIM).

Cherry started her career by training and qualifying as a Chartered Accountant.

She is a former Partner in a firm in London and is a Fellow of the Institute of

Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. She was the senior Finance

tutor for 4 years at PA Consulting’s management development centre, Sundridge Park, in the UK. She then took a four year secondment to Malaysia to build the local management development business.  During that time, she ran workshops across SE Asia, including China, Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines and Singapore as well as Australia. 

Prior to setting up her own consultancy in 2003, Cherry worked for Right Management Consultants as the Asia Pacific Practice Leader for Talent Management, having joined Right when she moved to Australia in 1999.

She has over 25 years international experience in the financial services sector and in consulting.  Since 1991 her primary focus has been on senior leadership and general management development, working on a one-on-one basis, as well as group facilitation.  She currently coaches executives and senior managers in leadership as well as providing career coaching support.

Current and recent financial training assignments include designing and running workshops for the top 265 senior managers at Monash University, designing and facilitating modules of the Go8 Future Research Leaders Program for Monash, Melbourne and Swinburne Universities as well as UQ. In addition she has designed workshops for ANZ Pacific, World Wide Fund for Nature, Epworth Healthcare and StarHub Ltd in Singapore, as well as a number of in company projects through AIM. She has just finished running finance training for Newcastle City Council and a 4 day Finance and Business Planning course for 160 Branch Managers of an electrical wholesaler across Australia. Cherry presents on the Financial Responsibilities of NFP Board members for Leadership Victoria as part of their Board Orientation Series and has run finance training for a number of NFP Directors
